Thoughts
It was a great privilege for me to work as Walter's Deputy Head at Monkwearmouth. His kind and thoughtful leadership encouraged me in my career in education. I always regarded him as my mentor and a great friend.

Walter Carruthers went home to the Lord on Thursday, 24th October 2024, aged 96 - he died peacefully at the Castleview Care Home, Alnwick where he had been cared for the past recent years due to deteriorating health situation. Link to Condolences Statement
